Janelle Monae

Not only do I think Janelle Monae is wonderful, it seems that Puff Daddy/P Diddy/Diddy/whatever does too. He signed her to his record label in 2007. Since then she's opened for Of Montreal and No Doubt as part of their '09 summer tour.  


Her last album Metropolis was a concept album with inspirations ranging from Alfred Hitchcock to Debussy. She also plans to shoot a video for each song on her new album The ArchAndroid, which this song is from, and create both a movie and graphic novel based on the album. Pretty impressive!


Oh, and she's a pretty nifty mover too. It's so refreshing to see a female artist not having to dance in her underpants to be successful.
